Acclaimed by those in the know as the greatest unrecognized soul singer in the last 40 years, Ms LaVette was named the "No. 1 Artist Deserving More Attention" by critics in the Sept/Oct 2003 edition of Living Blues Magazine.
She appeared to sell out audiences at the Chicago Blues Festival in 2002. Ms LaVette was born Betty Haskin and recorded her first single for Lupine back in 1962 (when she was only sixteen).
She went on to produce a string of singles on labels as well known as Atlantic, Epic and Motown throughout the 1970s, though she never released a full length album.
